Moisturisers
When it comes to moisturising your face, beef tallow is one of the best options available—especially when it’s grass-fed!
You can either purchase it online (just search for "grass-fed beef tallow") or, even better, make your own. It’s super simple: just combine beef tallow with a nourishing oil like jojoba oil, and you can add an essential oil of your choice for a personal touch. This natural moisturiser is packed with vitamins A, D, and K, which are great for skin regeneration and hydration.
For my body, I stick to more basic, natural oils like olive oil or coconut oil.
Both are deeply moisturising and provide the skin with essential fatty acids that keep it soft and healthy. They don't contain any chemicals and are probably in your house already!
Shaving Cream
When it comes to shaving, skip the chemical-filled shaving creams! Instead, opt for a natural soap like Castile soap or a non-toxic option. These soaps are gentle on the skin while still providing the lather and smoothness you need for a great shave.
Because you're shaving sensitive areas of your skin, it’s even easier for chemicals to be absorbed, so it’s important to be mindful of what you’re using. By choosing natural alternatives, you’ll avoid unnecessary chemicals and keep your skin healthy and nourished!
Say Goodbye to Toxic Deodorants 🚫
Let’s talk about deodorants. Most deodorants are full of chemicals that can block your lymphatic drainage. This is a huge problem because your armpits are one of the most sensitive and vital areas of your body when it comes to toxin removal. By blocking these pathways, the chemicals in deodorants can be absorbed directly into your bloodstream, which can lead to various negative health effects.
We all know that aerosol deodorants should be avoided for so many reasons—both for the chemicals they contain and the environmental impact. But even roll-on, chemical-laden deodorants should be ditched. Instead, I opt for a natural deodorant with just a few ingredients.
My go-to is lemongrass deodorant from Ku.tis, which I absolutely love for its refreshing, light scent. It’s simple, effective, and much gentler on the body.
More Natural Personal Care Tips
Toothpaste: I use non-fluoride toothpaste, as fluoride can be harmful in the long run.
Mouthwash: Stop with any and all mouthwash—many contain alcohol and other harmful chemicals. A good alternative is simply rinsing with water or diluted apple cider vinegar.
Body Wash: I stick to Castile soap with honey or any non-toxic body wash option.
Sunscreen: For sun protection, I opt for non-nano zinc oxide mineral sunscreen, which is far safer for your skin and health than chemical sunscreens.
Lip Balm: I use a beeswax-based lip balm, which I made myself with just beeswax and coconut oil.
Foot Creams: For foot care, I rely on beef tallow for deep moisture and healing.
Makeup: When I wear makeup, I use Fierce Nature—they are a fantastic clean brand that offers natural, non-toxic makeup options!
By making small, natural switches like using beef tallow for moisturising, opting for non-toxic deodorants, and choosing natural shaving products, we can reduce our exposure to harmful chemicals and better support our body’s natural processes. Your skin and overall health will thank you! 🌿
